When HappySoaps Disappeared — and Our Search for Truly Sustainable Hair Care

When HappySoaps Disappeared — and Our Search for Truly Sustainable Hair Care

You might have noticed that some of the HappySoaps products from our Sustainable Hair collection have quietly disappeared from Amazon. We’re not sure why — but we’ll keep sniffing around to find out.

In the meantime, we decided to remove any products that are no longer available and take a fresh look at what’s left. Spoiler alert: not much! So we rolled up our paws and started searching for new sustainable shampoos and conditioners.

And let me tell you… finding truly sustainable options turned out to be much trickier than we expected.

🧴 Our search: harder than it looks

At first glance, there are lots of solid shampoo and conditioner bars that claim to be “eco,” “natural,” or “plastic-free.” But when we examined them more closely under our FutureFirst Principles, many didn’t quite make the cut.

Some looked great but:

  • contained harsh surfactants hiding behind gentle-sounding names,

  • lacked any independent certification,

  • used packaging we couldn’t confirm was recyclable or compostable, or

  • simply didn’t disclose where their ingredients came from.

So, yes — the hunt for new heroes took time. We sniffed, tested, compared, and asked many questions before settling on brands that share our values and can be trusted to stay around.

Meet the new Future First picks 🧼🌿

Nature Box
This colourful brand impressed us with its COSMOS Natural certification and transparent approach. Their Solid Shampoo with cold-pressed hemp oil soothes the scalp, while the Solid Conditioner with argan oil deeply nourishes dry ends. Both come in plastic-free recyclable cardboard and are vegan.

Dr. Organic
Their Tea Tree & Lemon Shampoo Bar is made with organic ingredients, gentle clay, and essential oils — perfect for oily roots and busy mornings. It’s SLS-free, paraben-free, vegan, cruelty-free, and packaged in FSC-certified cardboard. A clean conscience and a clean scalp!

SANTE Naturkosmetik
A true German pioneer in natural beauty, SANTE offers NaTrue-certified solid bars that combine function with sustainability.

  • The Solid Shampoo with organic birch leaf gives natural shine.

  • The Solid Conditioner with mango & aloe vera hydrates dry hair without silicones.
Both are vegan, plastic-free, and made in Europe under strict environmental standards.

What we do — so you don’t have to 🐾

Our team (that’s me and the humans I work with) keeps a close eye on every brand we feature. We:

  • regularly review ingredients and certifications,

  • verify that packaging is recyclable or compostable,

  • check stock and availability to avoid unpleasant “sold-out forever” surprises,

  • compare products through our FutureFirst Principles, and

  • keep adding or replacing items only when we’re sure they meet our standards.

That way, every product in our Sustainable Hair Care collection is not only kind to your hair, but also kind to the planet — and won’t suddenly vanish without a trace.

So if you’re looking for reliable, certified, plastic-free hair care that truly lives up to the word sustainable, check out the updated collection. 🧴✨
You’ll find fewer options — but each one is there for a reason.

Small changes, big impact. Always with the future in mind — and one happy wag from me. 🐾
